Be Impeccable With Your Word
Weekly Focal Point: Be Impeccable With Your Word
“Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.”
~ Don Miguel Ruiz ~
The 4 Agreements Series
In the world of recovery we are taught to say what we mean and mean what we say. But how many times have we broken the agreement to be impeccable with our word? It often begins slowly by not being entirely honest with another person or ourselves. We withhold details we consider minor. We soft sell the truth in an effort not to upset someone. We don’t honor our own truth because we fear we may be judged. We repeat things that were told to us in confidence and find ourselves knee deep in gossip. These seemingly minor offenses can set us on the course of being in bondage to our words. The gift of the spoken word is offered to us from God and not a privilege given to any other creature. It affords us the opportunity to create life and holds the power to manifest a life of abundance. This is the most freeing use of our energy and a stepping stone in the foundation of family recovery.

Questions to Consider This Week
- Can I identify times when I have not honored my truth in an effort not to upset others in my life? Did that serve me or cause more chaos than harmony?
- Do I use my words to speak truth and honor my personal values? Do I allow others to practice this with me without fear of judgment?
- Am I willing to take this agreement into prayer and ask my Higher Power to guide the use and intent of the words that I speak this week
