Practicing Self-Care

Self-care is often something that has been neglected within the recovering family system. We have been so focused on the addiction that we have failed to pour into ourselves. Addiction breeds guilt and shame for most family members and replenishing our mind, body and spirits is important for each of us daily. When we focus on ourselves, our needs and preservation it allows God the opportunity to care for the addict and for each member of the affected family to place their reliance on their own Higher Power. How are you nourishing yourself today?

3 C’s of Al-Anon

  1. We didn’t CAUSE it
  2. We can’t CONTROL it
  3. We can’t CURE it

AND WE WON’T CONTRIBUTE TO IT TODAY

Considerations to Practice This Week

  1. Seek to make your physical health a priority in terms of sleep, rest and play.
  2. Spend time engaging in something that will challenge your mind and peaks your interest.
  3. Try to find opportunities to be outside even if only for ten minutes. Nature is one of the great healers.
  4. Make it a priority to connect with your Higher Power in a new and different way. Your relationship with Him is the most vital one you have today. Treat it accordingly.
