Addiction doesn’t appear out of thin air, so for someone to truly recover, treatment must address the underlying causes of addiction. As a holistic recovery center, we incorporate a range of alternative practices and traditional, evidence-based therapies into our treatment curriculum. BRC Recovery’s clinical services include:
- Individual therapy
- Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT)
- Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)
- Motivational interviewing (MI)
- Dual diagnosis treatment
- Group therapy
- Family counseling
- Psychiatric evaluation
- Medication management
Throughout treatment, clients examine their addiction through an entirely new lens. They learn how and why they’ve made assumptions about themselves and their realities, as well as how negative emotions can lead to unhealthy, negative thought patterns that fuel addiction.
Effective treatment can undo those assumptions and negative thought patterns and establish healthy behaviors. Clients build self-awareness; learn how to identify and manage their thoughts, feelings and emotions; develop coping strategies; and overcome triggers and prevent relapse.
Dual Diagnosis: Treatment for Co-Occurring Disorders
Co-occurring disorders, or dual diagnosis, refer to mental illness and substance use disorder that occur simultaneously. Either disorder can develop first. In some cases, people dealing with a mental health condition like depression will self-medicate using drugs or alcohol to ease symptoms of depression. Although it may relieve symptoms, that relief is temporary, and symptoms worsen over time. In other cases, a person’s genetics or environment increases susceptibility to mental health issues, or substance use triggers mental health symptoms.
Common co-occurring mental health disorders include:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Post-traumatic stress disorder
- Bipolar disorder
Since each condition affects the other, effective treatment of co-occurring disorders requires a multi-pronged approach. Our sophisticated curriculum and experienced, educated staff work with clients to establish an individualized therapy plan that meets each client’s unique needs and circumstances.
Recovery Is Possible
Treatment for the underlying causes of addiction and co-occurring disorders is critical because when neither is addressed, the likelihood of relapse increases. Guided by the principles of the 12-step program, BRC Recovery’s team of expert clinicians uses evidence-based therapies that help clients focus solely on recovery and improving mental, physical and spiritual health.
We provide fully individualized, clinically sophisticated care for first responders, chronic relapsers, victims of trauma, law enforcement officials, and more.
